2001 USA Made Nyquist Backtrail X Pro

2001 USA Made Nyquist Backtrail X Pro

Now here’s another frame that I thought was a year which didn’t  turn out to be correct. This frame is a 2001 USA Made Nyquist Backtrail X Pro and just like the 2003 USA made Dave Mirra Pro S351 there’s not much information on it.   However, I found an ad advertising this specific frame as a 2K2. Nevertheless, the 2K2 Nyquist X Pro actually has laser cut dropouts unlike this 2001. Moreover, I believe Haro used a frame from 2001 on a 2002 advertisement which has happen before. Take for example the 2K2 S351 and the 2001. Notably the 2K2 Mirra has the laser cut dropouts and will obviously weigh less then the year prior which didn’t have laser cut dropouts. I’ve only seen two other 2001 USA Made Nyquist Backtrail X Pro in wild to date.

What’s the difference?

For 2001 Haro released one version of the USA made Nyquist Backtrail X Pro which came in two colors and can be purchased as a frame only. You can also buy the complete bike as well the only difference between them are the color. One notably difference between the USA made frame and a Taiwan complete bike are how vibrant the colors are and the USA made frame has some tubes double butted were as the Taiwan complete bikes aren’t.

2001 USA Made Nyquist Backtrail X Pro?

So how do you know you have, or found, a 2001 USA Made Nyquist Backtrail X Pro? Firstly, and most importantly, the serial number is a dead giveaway. It’s not on the bottom bracket on the USA models it’s on the right dropout and starts with H0XXXX. Just to clarify, that should be enough to stamp it as a USA frame. But if you want to take it a couple steps further make sure there’s no weeping holes in the tubes.

In addition, you can look for a Haro aluminum badge keep in mind that they can fall of throughout the years (2000 MP and BP USA made frame didn’t have them.) In addition, There are no 4130 CRMO stampings on the dropouts, or serial number on the bottom bracket. Furthermore, the right dropout has a serial number that looks like this: H01115. Another hint is the 99/2000 – 2001 frame have no weeping holes in the tubes. I’ll do a write up on all the USA made frame indicators a bit later.

The Wrap Up

In conclusion, just remember there are no Haro stamps anywhere on the frame to let you know what it is. In others words, there are no 4130 CRMO stampings on the dropouts, or serial number on the bottom bracket. I’ll do a in depth write up on all the USA made frame indicators a bit later.
